Legendary Ugandan musician Jose Chameleone born Joseph Mayanja has openly stated that he no longer supports Bobi Wine or the National Unity Platform (NUP), despite wishing them success in their political journey.

Speaking in an interview with U.S. based Ugandan YouTuber Masembe, Lenone Island Empire  revealed that although he once crossed over to NUP with hopes of contesting for the Kampala Lord Mayorship, he was denied the party ticket,a moment that made him reconsider his political direction.

“I once went to NUP, but I realized I was lost, not because of anything bad, but it just didn’t feel right. I joined because I loved Bobi Wine as my brother, but he didn’t care about me. So I went back to my father, President Museveni. I don’t hate Bobi WineI love him and enjoy his music,”Chameleone said.

The singer, now 46 years old, emphasized that he is content and feels valued within the NRM, a party he says he intends to remain loyal to for life.

“I’m almost 50 now. I’m done switching sides. I’ll die in my party. I wish Bobi Wine well, and I want him to win one day. But people should stop spreading hate just because we support different sides. We just love different things,” he explained.

Addressing Bobi Wine’s massive popularity, Chameleone noted that while the opposition leader commands large crowds, not all his supporters translate into actual voters.

“He has a huge following of fans, not necessarily voters. Many attend his rallies to see a star, not a president. Those who go to Museveni’s rallies come to see their president. And if Bobi Wine ever becomes president, I pray he leads well so that we can admire him the same way we admire President Museveni.”Chameleone  remarked.
