Media personality turned Politican, DJ Jacob Omutuuze has shared a candid and critical take on Bebe Cool’s latest album, Break The Chains.
While he acknowledged the high-quality production and strong songwriting on the project, he argued that the album’s biggest drawback is the artist behind it.

“It saddens me,that someone like Bebe Cool an icon who’s done so much for Ugandan music still refuses to accept that not every style suits him.”,Jacob said.
He suggested that the Afrobeat-inspired direction of Break The Chains would have been better executed by a younger artist.
“If someone like Joshua Baraka, who’s just 24, had released that same album with the kind of support Bebe Cool has, it would have made a bigger impact,” Jacob claimed.

He also noted that the timing of the album’s release was strategically sound, given the current lull in Uganda’s music scene. However, he emphasized that age plays a major role in how audiences connect with certain styles and in his view, Bebe Cool, now 47, struggles to convincingly deliver the youthful Afro sound.
“His age does not favor his album,” Jacob reiterated.
He further criticized fans and media outlets for not being honest with veteran artists, arguing that their reluctance to offer constructive feedback only contributes to missteps like this.
