Renowned Ugandan musician Jose Chameleone, born Joseph Mayanja, has reached an agreement to end his 17-year marriage with Daniella Atim, bringing to a close one of Uganda’s most prominent celebrity relationships.
The couple, who wed on June 7, 2008, share five children. In March 2025, Atim filed for divorce, citing prolonged neglect, emotional abandonment, and insufficient support throughout their marriage.
Atim revealed she experienced depression during their relationship and accused Chameleone of being absent for five years, leaving her to raise their children alone.
In her divorce petition, Atim is seeking the following:
Full custody of their five children
Sole ownership of their Seguku home in Makindye Division, Kampala
Financial support for both herself and the children
Payment of all court-related fees

Chameleone has contested some of these demands. While he agrees to provide ongoing financial support for the children, he insists that the Seguku residence should remain registered in their children’s names rather than being awarded solely to Atim.
He also claims that Atim has alienated the children from him and is requesting visitation rights to remain actively involved in their lives.
Addressing the accusations of neglect, Chameleone argues that in 2018, the couple mutually decided to relocate the family to the United States. He also emphasized that he personally bought the Seguku property and believes both parents should share responsibility for their children’s upbringing, especially given their financial capabilities.
As legal proceedings continue, the public watches closely as one of Uganda’s most talked-about celebrity unions comes to an official end.
