Lt.Gen. Prosociva Nalweyiso, a senior Uganda Military Officer in the Uganda People’s Defense Forces ( UPDF) has warned singer Alien Skin and other artists to stop wearing military attire.
Alien Skin and some of his crew members have military camouflage uniforms; for video shoots, performances and/or simply daily wearing which raised public concern.
Nalweyiso issued this stem warning during her recent interview with one of local YouTuber.
She emphasized that the military uniform is a symbol of honor and respect , earned through hard work and dedication ,and that should not be trivialized by civilians.
Nalweyiso suggested that the likes of Alien Skin if they want to wear such clothings, should undergo military training and join the army.
“Alien Skin, remove that army uniform. If you want, go and train to join the army. We have so many training schools. Unless you have a special document allowing you to wear these army uniforms and you went to Kyankwanzi, remove our combat” Said Gen Nalweyiso.
She went on to urge the relevant arms agencies to come in and address this issue.
She further cautioned celebrities particularly musicians who associate with unruly groups dubbed ” Eggaali” when attending events that they avoid such gangs and reassured that she would take action to stop the emerging trend.
” Stop this behavior ,if you cannot control your groups , then get rid of them.We do not want such activities in our country .we do not approve of your actions”,she said.
