At least 11 people were killed on Tuesday afternoon after a fuel tanker overturned and ignited while locals attempted to siphon fuel in Kigogwa Town, along the Kampala-Bombo road.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, confirmed that the accident occurred around 3 p.m. The tanker, with registration number UAM 292Q, was en route from Kampala to Gulu when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn.

As chaos ensued, residents hurried to siphon fuel from the overturned tanker, unaware of the imminent danger. Tragically, the tanker caught fire, with those closest being burned beyond recognition.
