Senegalese football icon El Hadji Diouf arrived in Uganda on Saturday, March 8, 2025, for a four-day visit.
During his stay, Diouf will participate in several football-related activities, including attending the U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier between Uganda and Kenya.
Diouf, who gained global recognition for his performances at the 2002 FIFA World Cup, landed in Uganda in the afternoon, invited by Big Talent Soccer Academy, a football academy founded by renowned Ugandan musician Eddy Kenzo.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) is coordinating his visit, overseeing his schedule and activities.

One of Diouf’s first engagements will be attending the highly anticipated U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier between Uganda and Kenya at Hamz Stadium. His presence is expected to inspire young footballers and further emphasize the importance of youth football development in Uganda and the wider region.
Both FUFA and Big Talent Soccer Academy have expressed excitement about the visit, highlighting the opportunity for collaboration in advancing football development.

“We are thrilled to welcome El Hadji Diouf to Uganda and explore avenues for collaboration in football development,” a joint statement from both organizations said.
Diouf, a two-time African Player of the Year, had an illustrious career in Europe, playing for top clubs such as Liverpool and Bolton Wanderers. His visit is anticipated to ignite discussions about grassroots football initiatives and mentorship programs aimed at nurturing the next generation of football talent in Uganda.
