Eddy Kenzo: We’re Pushing for Concert Curfew Extension to 2AM

Eddy Kenzo, President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), has announced ongoing efforts to engage the government in extending the official curfew for concert performances from midnight to at least 2AM.

Currently, a government directive limits all concert activities to end by 12AM,a regulation introduced a few years ago.

However, Kenzo argues that this restriction has negatively impacted both performers and fans, who feel they’re not getting full value for their money or time.

Speaking on the issue, Kenzo explained that the midnight cutoff significantly limits artists’ ability to put on complete performances.

“One of the key matters we’re discussing with the government is increasing performance time from midnight to at least 2AM,People often arrive late due to traffic and other unavoidable delays. When fans show up between 8PM and 10PM, it leaves artists with barely two hours to perform. Extending the time by two more hours would be a huge improvement.”,Kenzo said.

As a presidential advisor on creative industries, Kenzo also revealed that talks with the government are progressing positively. He hinted that President Museveni is working on something significant for the entertainment sector.

Eddy Kenzo, who also leads Big Talent Entertainment, emphasized that extending performance hours would benefit both artists and fans, helping to address long-standing concerns on both sides.
