Prominent city socialite Nasser Nduhukire alias Don Nasser, has been released from prison after several months behind bars.

He was granted bail yesterday, set at Shs 3 million in cash, with his sureties required to sign non-cash bonds of Shs 50 million each.

As part of his bail conditions, the court confiscated Nduhukire’s passport and imposed a travel restriction, requiring his prior approval for any trips abroad. He is also required to report to the court registrar once a month for the next six months.

Nduhukire was arrested in September along with Promise Gatete, facing charges of aggravated child trafficking for sexual exploitation.

The charges stem from an incident in which a 16-year-old girl was allegedly transported from Tagore Apartments in Kamwokya to Kira Division, where she was held captive for three days.

Both Nduhukire and Gatete have denied the charges, but were remanded to Luzira Prison while awaiting trial.
The maximum penalty for aggravated child trafficking is death.

Reports suggest that the victim, a secondary school student, had been in contact with Nduhukire through phone calls to arrange meetings. The situation escalated when her parents discovered that the Socialite was allegedly providing drug to their daughter.

The girl’s father, identified as a high-ranking security officer, vowed to ensure justice was served. When Nasser learned he was being pursued, he reportedly fled to the Democratic Republic of Congo before moving to Kenya. He was apprehended in Nairobi in September
