Musician Mark Bugembe alias Buchaman, has accused the government of deliberately sidelining him and refusing to fund his initiatives because of his past association with National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
In an interview with Sanyuka TV, Buchaman revealed that he had developed several community-based projects aimed at empowering ghetto youths, but claimed these initiatives were frustrated by influential figures within the government.

According to Buchaman, some officials close to President Yoweri Museveni and Gen. Salim Saleh are hesitant to support him financially, fearing that any assistance he receives might indirectly benefit Bobi Wine, his former friend and musical partner turned political rival to the regime.
“President Museveni and Gen. Saleh know what I can do for this country, but they refuse to support me because they still think I’m Bobi Wine’s ally. They fear that if I get funding, it will somehow benefit him. They would rather wait until I’m gone to recognise my efforts.”Buchaman said.
The self-proclaimed Ghetto President added that despite his open support for the ruling establishment, he feels ignored and financially abandoned.

“I have been loyal to them, but they’ve treated me unfairly, “I’m struggling to survive. I have projects that could help ghetto youths leave crime, but I get no recognition or funding just because I was once close to Bobi Wine.”he lamented.
Buchaman and Bobi Wine were once inseparable as part of the Firebase Crew, but their relationship soured after political differences emerged. Despite aligning himself with the government, Buchaman says he continues to face mistrust because of his past connection to the opposition leader.
