Bruno K Wins Lawsuit Against Black Market Records

Musician Bruno K has won a legal battle against Black Market Records, securing UGX 130 million in compensation for copyright infringement and withheld royalties.

The High Court ruled in his favor, ordering the record label to pay UGX 100 million in general damages and an additional UGX 30 million in aggravated damages. If the label fails to comply, the amount will accrue an annual interest of 14% from the judgment date.

Bruno K initially signed with Black Market Records in early 2020, expecting a productive collaboration. However, he later found the contract unfavorable and chose to terminate it.

Despite his exit, the label continued to claim ownership of his music, withheld his royalties, and took control of his YouTube channel.

Though he eventually regained access to his channel, the financial dispute remained unresolved. Following extensive court proceedings, the High Court ruled in Bruno K’s favor, marking a significant victory for the artist.
