Despite being a full-time politician, Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine still loves art. The politician-cum-singer has come out to demand for the safe return of fellow artiste Fik Gaza Gunter who was arrested earlier this week in Saudi Arabia.
According to Bobi Wine, he just learnt of the detention of Fik Gaza and he has offered his support to his fellow artist to demand for his safe return home from Saudi Arabia prison.
“I’ve learnt of the detention of this brother and artiste Fik Gaza in Saudi Arabia- something that has happened to so many African and indeed Ugandan artistes in the past. Although details are still scanty, our teams both here and in Saudi Arabia are trying to establish the facts so that we collectively assist him out of this situation.”,Bobi wine said.
Gaza , who was booked to perform in Saudi Arabia over the last weekend ,was reportedly arrested over illegal papers and poor dress code.
It is alleged that one of Ugandan promoters based in Saudi Arabia tipped off the Saudi police ,who pursued Fik Gaza , leading to his arrest.
The full details regarding the arrest of ‘ banana’ singer are yet to be fully revealed but if is not the first time a Ugandan artist is being arrested in foreign countries.
Just recently , another Ugandan singer Beenie Gunter was arrested and detained in Dubai for couple of weeks following a physical altercation with Ugandan promoters abroad.
