While talking about the Ugandan music entertainment, there’s need to mention a number of individuals behind the music be it the producers, directors to mention but a few. Behind all the greatest songs, are brilliant and great songwriters who commit and dedicate themselves into creating audible masterpieces and here we take you through some of the chosen few.
1. Moses Nakintije Sekibogo
Famously known by his stage names Moses Radio was a Ugandan musician, songwriter and one of the main performers of the the Ugandan music Group Good Life crew alongside Weasel Manizo(Douglas Mayannja).
Moses Radio was a talented musician and also a great songwriter who always wrote what he sang and also wrote what others sang. He was one musician who always wished nothing but growth for the Ugandan music industry and therefore sometimes wrote free songs for upcoming artists in a bid to help them first track their music careers and some of the artists who benefited from his writings include, Rema Namakula, Juliana Kanyomozi, Winnie Nwaji, Irene Ntale, Spice Diana, Filke to mention but a few.
Amongst the songs Moses Radio wrote include Kibulamu by Winnie Nwaji, Ekitone by Desire Luzinda, Sembeera and Bikoola by Irene Ntale, Danger and Dagala by Likian Mbabazi, Masuuka and Nkubanja by Lydia Jasmine among others.
2. Nince Henry
Real names Sekyanzi Henry, he is a musician and also considered to be one of the best Ugandan songwriters of all time.
Nince Henry rose to fame in the music industry after writing successful songs fir Ugandan music artists like Bebecool, Juliana Kanyomozi, Iryn Namubiru, Bobi Wine among others and also wrote songs including Sikyakaaba by juliana Kanyomozi among others.
3. Joshua Kiberu
Popularly known as Yese Oman Rafiki, he is a musician, entrepreneur and songwriter who wrote his first dong at the age of 20 years and has since then written soul soothing music including Kabumenfane by Bebe Cool, Kano Koze by Winnie Nwaji, Kyolowooza by Irene Ntale among others.
4. Zulanda
Real names Julius Baker Ssembusi, most people know him as Zulanda, he is the master brain behind Winnie Nwaji’s hit song Embela, Stay with me by Irene Ntale, Kuma Obude by Lilian Mbabazi to mention but a few.
5. Geofrey Nkwaga
Famously known as Dokta Brain, he is one songwriter with a high brain power and strong lyrics.
Dokta Brain has been writing songs since 2014 including Musawo by Winnie Nwagi, Kisasi Kimu by Sheebah Karungi, You are Sweet by Rema Namakula among others.
These songwriters have therefore for decades created timeless masterpieces that still hold up today.
