Ugandan music star Bebe Cool is currently in Nairobi, Kenya, promoting his latest album Break the Chains. He arrived on Tuesday morning and immediately launched into a busy media tour following a brief press conference.

On Wednesday, during an appearance on Kiss FM, one of Kenya’s most established radio stations, Bebe Cool commented on the city’s notorious traffic. Comparing it to Kampala, he noted,

“In Uganda, you can get a lead car and move like a VIP, but in Nairobi, you have to sit through the traffic whether you like it or not,”he told hosts Muchina and Cyd.

Videos of Bebe Cool visiting various media outlets across Nairobi have been circulating online. One standout moment features him performing with students from Mitaboni ABC Girls School, singing along to his latest single Cheque.

In an interview on K24’s Amka Vibe Check with Remmy Majala, Bebe Cool discussed his collaboration with rising star Joshua Baraka. He explained that their joint effort on Cheque was a strategic move—aimed at bridging generational gaps:

“I wanted to introduce Baraka to my older fanbase, while he introduces me to the Gen Z audience,” Bebe said.

Beyond Nairobi, Bebe Cool’s music is also making waves internationally. On Monday, Cheque, featuring Joshua Baraka, debuted on BBC Radio 1Xtra as part of DJ Edu’s official mix. The track received a special refix, with DJ Edu adding an urban London electronic twist, broadening its appeal to global listeners.

This isn’t Bebe Cool’s first feature on BBC 1Xtra. Back in 2015, his rendition of Philly Lutaaya’s “Born in Africa” was recognized among the top African songs. He later collaborated with DJ Edu on Games, another track featured on Break the Chains making Cheque their latest joint success.

Several Kenyan media personalities have already singled out Cheque, Motivation, and African Love (featuring Yemi Alade) as standout tracks from the new album.
