Babaluku to GNL Zamba: “Stop Trashing Rappers for Clout, We Built This Culture”

Veteran Ugandan rapper Babaluku has reignited tensions with fellow hip-hop star GNL Zamba, accusing him of disrespecting the very artists he claims to uplift.

Speaking during an interview on NRG Radio Uganda, Babaluku made it clear he has no personal grudge against GNL  but won’t tolerate what he calls “ignorance” and unnecessary negativity in the hip-hop space.

The two rappers had previously squashed their long-standing beef after appearing together on the Baboon Forest podcast last year. But Babaluku says GNL’s continued commentary on his podcast keeps stirring friction in the industry.

According to the Bavubuka founder, he has spent 23 years building communities and shaping Uganda’s hip-hop culture something he believes GNL has failed to do despite his fame.

Babaluku didn’t hold back:

“I’ve been running the longest HipHop run in Uganda. You want to talk hip hop with me? How come you didn’t help us when you blew up? How many communities have you elevated?”

He also warned GNL against using negativity to generate attention, urging him to respect the culture and inspire upcoming rappers instead of “tearing others down.”

“You cannot get clout by trashing people. We are hip hop builders. Young people look up to you  don’t use that to disrespect fellow rappers.”,he said.
