Swangz Avenue singer Azawi has sparked heated debate after accusing some veteran Ugandan musicians of using witchcraft and sabotage to frustrate rising stars.
During an interview on Frank Ntambi’s YouTube podcast, Azawi boldly revealed that several established artists do not want to see young talent grow.

“First of all, they don’t wish others well, secondly they are thieves, and thirdly they practice witchcraft,” Azawi said, adding that such artists behave like “devils” who are determined to keep the industry closed off to newcomers.
Azawi explained that the conflict between old and new artists goes beyond normal competition. She says it is driven by jealousy, greed, and harmful practices that make it tough for emerging creatives to break through.

Her claims are not new in the industry. Over the years, musicians including Spice Diana, Dianah Nalubega, and David Lutalo have also spoken out about witchcraft, sabotage, and toxic competition among entertainers.
Azawi’s statements have now reignited an old conversation one many fear but rarely speak about.
