Swangz Avenue singer Azawi has accepted a public debate challenge issued by fellow artist Eddy Kenzo, following a recent exchange sparked by her critical remarks about Uganda’s government and music industry.

Kenzo, in response to her statements, accused her of spreading biased and inaccurate views regarding the state of the country’s entertainment sector and its ties to politics. He proposed a public debate to address the issues head-on.

Speaking during an interview on Galaxy FM, She agreed to the challenge and expressed appreciation for the format.

“He asked for a public debate, and I’m more than ready for it. What I like most is that he wants it to be public. I’m asking the organizers to take it to the ghettos where both of us come from.”Azawi said.

She suggested the debate be held in neighborhoods like Nankulabye or Kasubi, areas recognized for their cultural influence and deep roots in Uganda’s grassroots music scene.

She emphasized that such a setting would keep the discussion relevant and accessible to the communities that shaped their careers.

“I want the people to be there because that’s where our journeys began—with the ghettos and the youth,I have my questions, and he has his. Let him show me where I’ve misinformed the young people.”,she said.
