“Am Not Interested in Contesting For Kira Municipality Parliamentary Seat” – Ykee Benda

Former Uganda Musicians Association President ( UMA) and Mpaka records boss, Tugume Wycliffe alias Ykee Benda has revealed that he is not eyeing for the Kira Municipality Parliamentary Seat in forthcoming 2026 general elections.

Rumors have been going round for a while suggesting that Ykee Benda is planning to contest for the Kira Municipality seat, a position currently held by Hon . Ibrahim Ssemujja Nganda.

While Speaking to Sanyuka TV, the former UMA president said that he has no plans to purse a political career at this time as rumors suggests.

He explained that his connection to Kira is Primarily familial, as he was born in the area ( Kireka) and his father still stays there.

“I am not going to Parilamennt so people should stop asking me. Whether I’m interested in politics . I was just born in Kira and I’m not a leader there . I’m just a leader in many other things but not politics” ,he clarified.

Ykee, however did not completely rule out future involvement in politics but emphasized that his current focus on something bigger .

Several singer including ; Catherine Kusasira , Viboyo Oweyo , Nina Roz and King Saha ,are reportedly set to contest for elective positions in the forthcoming 2026 general elections.
