The Uganda She Cranes are gearing up for an exciting showdown against South Africa in the final of the 2024 Africa Netball Cup, taking place today, Saturday, December 14th, at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Both teams, each with three titles to their name, will battle it out for a record fourth championship.The match will kick off at 3pm EAT.
The semi-finals held yesterday were filled with intense netball action. In the first match, South Africa dominated Zimbabwe with a resounding 63-41 victory. Under the guidance of Coach Vilane Jabulani, the Proteas showcased their strength, leading 17-13 at the end of the first quarter and extending their advantage to 34-21 by halftime. South Africa further widened the gap in the third quarter, finishing with a 50-32 lead to secure their spot in the final.
In the second semi-final, Uganda’s She Cranes triumphed over Malawi’s She Flames, winning 51-43 in a tightly contested match. Malawi started strong, leading 14-8 in the opening quarter, thanks to stellar performances from goal-shooter Tendai Masamba and center Lwazi Takondwa. However, Uganda leveled the game by halftime at 23-all, aided by strategic substitutions from Sandra Nambirige and Mercy Batamuliza. The She Cranes seized control in the third quarter, moving ahead 39-32, and held on to secure the win.
This sets the stage for an eagerly anticipated final between two of Africa’s top netball teams, with both history and pride at stake. The match will kick off at 3pm EAT.
