Uganda Cranes Head Coach Paul Put has named the squad for the final two matches of the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers set for this month.
Uganda will host South Africa at the Mandela National Stadium on November 15, 2024, before traveling to Congo four days later.
These fixtures are crucial for Uganda as they aim to secure qualification for the 2025 AFCON. A single point from the two matches will be enough to guarantee their spot in the tournament.
Coach Put also explained the decision to call up four goalkeepers, including Mutwalibi Mugolofa of KCCA FC. “With the CHAN tournament coming up next month and games against Burundi, I wanted to have him involved in the set-up and ensure he gets training sessions with the goalkeeping coach. He’s been performing well in the league, and maybe we’ll call up another goalkeeper next time,” said Put.
The team will begin their residential camp on Sunday at Cranes Paradise in Kisasi, with foreign-based players joining as they arrive in the country.
Currently, Uganda sits at the top of Group K with 10 points, two ahead of South Africa, while Congo and South Sudan trail with four and zero points, respectively.
