Ugandan Environmental activist and founder of Faith in Trees Ariokot Faith Patricia has written her name in history books of the Guinness World Record for the Longest Tree Hug in the world as she finally stood by it for over 15 hours.
Ariokot Patricia Faith won the battle on her second attempt, as her first try on December 8th, 2023, was unsuccessful as she submitted her recordings and were denied.
According to a statement put up on her X acount, the first attempt was nullified due to a camera malfunction that resulted in the cancellation of a few minutes from the recording.
Finally, on 29th December 2023, she made her second attempt in Soroti and it was a success as she surpassed Adrienne Long’s previous record of ten hours and five minutes set in 2020.
Patricia claims that she could have gone even further but unfortunately lightning struck and forced her to conclude the hug at precisely 15 hours and 19 minutes which was also already a huge record.
My country. My people. My loves
We did it. We broke the world record of 8:00 hours
We surpassed our expected time of 13:00hours
We were on our way to make atleast 17hours.Then lightening struck and we had no choice but to stop the attempt.
At exactly 15hours and 19… pic.twitter.com/XnSQy0MuRK
