Renowned Ugandan dancehall artistt Alexander Bagonza alias A Pass has made his stance crystal clear no government handouts for him, not now, not ever.

While speaking to Daily Soup, the “Tuli Kubigere” hitmaker said he has zero interest in the government’s stimulus packages meant for creatives.

He stressed that although other artistes are free to take the money, he prefers to earn his own cash the hard way.

“Those issues are of no concern to me. They can give other musicians money, but I am not part of that. I want money, but only when I have worked for it. I don’t want money from the government.I want money from the fans,” A Pass said.

Pushing his point even further, the singer revealed that he would reject even a massive Shs 1 billion from the government.

“I would not take it. Legacy over currency,” he boldly stated.

The government has previously allocated huge sums to boost the creative sector—Shs 6.6 billion during the COVID-19 lockdown and Shs 66 billion for the arts in the 2025 Financial Year.
