Tensions flared in Kawempe on Monday after seven police officers were injured during campaign activities for National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Bobi Wine.
According to a statement released on 24th November 2025, the chaos began shortly after a meeting between security officials, the Electoral Commission, and Bobi Wine’s organizing team where they had agreed on campaign routes and venues.

However, trouble reportedly broke out when crowds at the NUP headquarters started pelting stones at security personnel. Similar incidents were recorded at Bwaise Roundabout and later at the main campaign venue, leaving several police vehicles including an ambulance damaged.
Police say officers used public order management tactics to disperse what they described as rowdy crowds. At least seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the violence.
In its statement, the Uganda Police Force condemned the acts of hooliganism and warned that such conduct will be met with firm action during the campaign season.

Bobi Wine continues his campaign on Tuesday, heading next to Mukono as the presidential race intensifies.
