Singer-turned-politician Stecia Mayanja has officially announced that she is no longer affiliated with the National Peasants Party (NPP), where she previously served as party president.
Her announcement comes in the wake of intense criticism following her recent performance at an event attended by President Yoweri Museveni at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala. The performance sparked backlash from both NPP members and the public, who accused her of aligning with a political rival.
In response, the party’s leadership summoned Stecia and ultimately made the decision to expel her, citing a failure to uphold the party’s core values and principles.
Speaking to the press earlier today, Stecia emphasized that she is not prepared to abandon her music career in favor of full-time politics.

“I remain committed to my passion for music,” she stated, adding that her next steps in politics or public service will be revealed in due course.
With her departure from NPP now confirmed, all eyes are on Stecia as she prepares to chart her next course.
