Renowned Ugandan singer Moses Ssali, also known as Bebe Cool has shared why he refuses to engage in elective politics, despite his outspoken views on the matter.

Bebe Cool has long shown interest in Uganda’s political landscape, sparking speculation about whether he would consider running for office.

Known for his political connections, philanthropic efforts, and dedication to supporting youth, many have anticipated that he might one day take on a leadership role. However, this is a path he’s not willing to follow.

In his own words, Bebe Cool criticized politicians for often resorting to dishonesty, claiming they tell people what they want to hear rather than the truth. As someone who prides himself on being honest, he emphasized that he could not compromise his values by lying to the public.

“Even if I stop doing music, I still don’t see myself entering politics. Politics has always been part of my family, but after weighing my options, I don’t see it as something I’d get involved in. The only time I would consider politics is if it’s non-elective because I can’t lie to people. A true leader speaks the truth, even when it’s hard to hear. I’d rather not hold an office and be a good leader by speaking the facts,” he said.

Although he remains firm on his stance, Bebe Cool didn’t completely rule out the possibility of entering politics.

He mentioned that if the youth, motivated by his values of truth, hard work, and service, ever asked him to run for office, he would consider it.

“I can’t completely rule it out because life can be unpredictable, but as of now, I don’t want to engage in elective politics. However, if one day young people, driven by truth and genuine service, ask me to run, based on my work and commitment, I would,” Bebe Cool explained.
