YouTube has pulled down Lil Pazo Lunabe’s latest single, “Irena Weee,” due to allegations of copyright infringement.
Lil Pazo shared a screenshot on social media, showing an email informing him that the takedown request came from the family of the late Kato Lubwama.
“Leero Mu GATALIKO NFUFFU 😳 { ETTIMA 💔💔} .
Olugero Lwa Ffena Tubifirwe Lutukidde Ddala Kunze Famire Yo Mugenzi Kato Lubwama Bweyegasse Nobajonkezzi 😂 Nebajayo Oluyimba Lwomugole Waffe #IRENA WEee…ðŸ˜ðŸ˜” ,he posted.
The action followed accusations from John Segawa and Conrad Lubwama, who claimed that Lil Pazo had copied the song “Kilabe Ebiiso” by the late Kato Lubwama without permission.
The family issued a notice of intention to sue, demanding that Lil Pazo remove the song and make a formal request for authorization, which Lil Pazo denies receiving.
The notice also called for Lil Pazo to pay a hefty sum of 300 million Ugandan shillings, among other penalties.
In a recent interview with Sanyuka TV, Lil Pazo stated that he used a reggae beat by the late Lucky Dube and fused it with Luganda lyrics, asserting that he did not believe this constituted copyright infringement
