Musician Ykee Benda has opened up about a harrowing accident that occurred in 2021 while he was driving his family home from a birthday celebration.
According to Ykee, a group of friends had surprised him with a party and even invited his baby mama to join. Despite being exhausted from the previous night’s festivities, he agreed to drive the family to Namugongo for the event.
As the evening progressed, Ykee admitted to having a few drinks but chose to leave early, knowing he had his family with him. Fatigue soon took over during the drive, and while behind the wheel of his Mark X, he began to drift off.
The situation quickly turned dangerous. Ykee was jolted awake by his baby mama, who was tapping him frantically alerting him that they were veering off the road and into someone’s fence. In a panic, instead of hitting the brakes, he mistakenly stepped on the accelerator.
The car crashed through the fence and into the wall of a house, eventually smashing into a bedroom. Ykee sustained a cut above his eyebrow—leaving a scar he still bears today. Miraculously, neither his baby mama nor their child, Dante, who were not wearing seatbelts, were injured.
Speaking to Apostle Nalebo during an episode of Faith Unfiltered on the Millennials Of Christ channel, Ykee credited divine intervention for their survival.
“At around 8 PM, I woke up to my baby mama tapping me because we were crashing into someone’s fence, Instead of braking, I accelerated and we rammed straight into the man’s bedroom. I got a cut on my eyebrow, but Mummy Dante and Dante were completely unharmed even without seatbelts. The baby was very okay. Up to now, I just thank God for their lives.”,he recalled.
