Mpaka Records boss Ykee Benda has accused fellow musician and Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) president Eddy Kenzo of exploiting the federation for personal benefit.
The allegations arose after Kenzo, together with a selected group of artists under the UNMF banner, launched President Museveni’s campaign album a few weeks ago at Speke Resort Munyonyo in the presence of president Museveni.
During an appearance on Sanyuka TV, Ykee Benda described the project as a money-making venture, claiming that Kenzo was using the federation’s name for personal gain,a practice he said has become common among artists seeking political favor.
Benda further argued that it was inappropriate for the Sitya Loss singer to launch the album under the federation, noting that the move sidelined many musicians who were not part of the project.

He suggested that Kenzo should have released it as a personal initiative and collaborated with any artists of his choosing, rather than involving the federation.
The Mpaka Records boss reiterated that he remains uninvolved in politics during the ongoing campaign season.
Eddy Kenzo has not yet responded to Ykee Benda’s remarks. We will keep you updated once he issues a statement.
