TikTok content creator Auntie Kaduuka, whose real name is Hellen Nakimaanya, has finally spoken out after days of hiding, confirming that she fled Uganda and is now in Canada.
She made the revelation on her social media platforms, explaining that she escaped to Toronto, passing through Tanzania, shortly after the police issued a summons against her.
Aunt Kaduuka shared that she decided to leave the country when Bweyogerere Police placed her on the list of criminals for allegedly “obtaining money by false pretense.” She is accused of scamming multiple individuals by promising to open shops for them, only to take their money without delivering on the promise.
Reports suggest that Kaduuka may have collected hundreds of millions of Ugandan shillings from Ugandans living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) before making her escape to Tanzania.
In a post, she shared: “Waliwo agambye Auntie Kaduuka Must Shine, Nsizidde wano mu saza lya Ssabasajja Kabaka e Toronto mu Tanzania. MAWULIRE KI EYO? CANADA NGA ENYOGOGA NYO OKUSINGA TANZANIA” (There are those who said Auntie Kaduuka must shine, now I’m here in the land of the King in Toronto, passing through Tanzania. What’s the news? Canada is much better than Tanzania).*
The police have yet to provide an update on their investigation or clarify how Kaduuka managed to reach Canada, despite the arrest warrant issued for her.
