On Valentine’s Day, Counsel Hon. Fred Mukasa Mbidde came dangerously close to jeopardizing his marriage to wife Phiona Nayebare after a Rwandan woman identified as Beyle Mutoni confronted him about promises he allegedly made to her during their past romantic encounters at a hotel.
Reports claim that Mutoni, who had been trying to contact Mbidde, showed up at the hotel where he was celebrating the holiday. When she spotted him in the hotel gardens, she approached him, hoping to speak privately without the presence of his wife.
Mbidde, however, declined, out of respect for his wife, despite the fact that Mutoni was more physically appealing than Phiona.
Things escalated when Mutoni grew frustrated and began accusing Mbidde of ignoring her calls, “blueticking” her messages, and blocking her on WhatsApp, even though they had previously communicated as adults.
Embarrassed by the situation, Mbidde called the hotel security, who detained Mutoni and took her to Jinja Road Police Station.
While at police station ,she made a statement claiming that for weeks, she had been trying to get Mbidde to fulfill promises he made during their affair, including helping her with a job, paying her rent, providing upkeep, and settling an outstanding balance of $3,000 for the services she had provided to the politician.
Mutoni told the police that she didn’t want anything from Mbidde or his wife, except for the fulfillment of these promises. She was released on police bond and instructed to return to the station on February 24, 2025.
