Singer Douglas Mayanja alias Weasel Manizo, has responded to recent public accusations made by his nephew, Abba Marcus Mayanja against his father and musician Jose Chameleone.
Weasel has urged Abba to stop criticizing his father, warning him that such attacks could have serious consequences.
Abba, Chameleone’s first-born son, publicly accused his father of being a reckless alcoholic in a TikTok video posted on December 16.
In the video, Abba claimed that his father’s addiction had led to noticeable weight loss and expressed his frustration with the online backlash directed at his mother, insisting she should not be blamed for the situation.
Weasel, in his response, expressed disappointment at Abba’s harsh words but offered a hopeful view of his nephew’s future understanding of his father’s challenges.
He urged Abba to reconsider his accusations and reflect on the sacrifices his father has made for him and the family.
“Abba is talking about his dad being an alcoholic. But how does an alcoholic remember to always pay your school fees at Galaxy International School, where they pay $20,000? ,and how can a drunk person take you abroad, buy you a house, and keep up with all your bills?”,Weasel asked.
Weasel added that he loved Abba but emphasized that he needed to stop attacking his father. He also warned Abba that, as he matures, he would soon understand the struggles his father faces.
Drawing from his own experiences growing up, Weasel shared a piece of advice from his father, Gerald Mayanja.
“My father used to tell me when I was young that I would grow up and understand the world. The world will always find a way to put you in line,” Weasel recalled.
He noted that everyone goes through challenges, which can sometimes lead people to unhealthy coping mechanisms.
“We all grow up innocent and well-disciplined. But at some point, you find yourself dealing with things that lead you down a difficult path,” he explained.
Weasel also pointed out that Abba’s current stay in the United States would offer him valuable life lessons.
“The good thing is that Abba is now in the US. He will soon have his own children, and then he will understand what his father is going through,” Weasel said.
Chameleone was recently hospitalized in Kampala, with Abba revealing days later that his father was battling acute pancreatitis. Earlier this week, the music legend traveled to Minnesota for specialized treatment.
