The Vice President of Uganda, Hon Rtd Maj. Jessica Alupo has officially announced General Yoweri Museveni’s intention to run in the 2026 during the Centenary celebrations in Kabale
Presidential elections. Alupo addressed the public during the Centenary celebrations at Rushoroza parish Cathedral in Kabale, dispelling speculations and urging the nation to remain calm as Museveni is gearing up for the upcoming race.
Speaking as Museveni’s representative at the ceremony, Alupo assured the Eastern region that Gen Yoweri Museveni is set to return in the 2026 Presidential race.
This declaration follows Museveni’s refusal to comment on the matter during his recent end-of-year media meeting, promising to address his plans at the appropriate time.
Emphasizing the need to emulate Jesus’ efforts in both spiritual and socioeconomic upliftment, Museveni made a personal contribution of UGX 50 million towards the development of the Parish.
The event also garnered substantial donations from various political figures, government officials, businessmen in Kabale, and well-wishers.
Notable attendees at the ceremony included Vice President Hon. Jessica Alupo, Henry Musasizi (State Minister for Finance – General Duties), the Minister of State for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, MP Nicholas Kamara (Kabale Municipality), Catherine Ndamira (woman MP for Kabale District), Alex Niyonsaba Sseruganda (MP for Bufumbira South), and Wilfred Niwagaba (MP for Ndorwa East).
