Unconfirmed reports suggest that singer and media personality Robert Sekidde, known as Tuff B, has been suspended from his duties at Next Media’s NBS TV.
Tuff B, who hosts the NBS TV show KURT, is said to be on forced leave. Sources close to the station indicate that his suspension was prompted by his defiance of the network’s non-partisan policy.
The presenter allegedly posted on his X platform on July 15, 2024, expressing support for the NUP’s countrywide tour in Bundibugyo.
Tuff B’s post read: “The struggle for a better Uganda is not in vain. Despite the obstacles, setbacks, and challenges, know that every effort counts and every voice matters. Continue to speak out, stand up, and push forward. The future of Uganda depends on our persistence and dedication.”
Next Media believes the tweet violated their policies on impartiality, leading to a 10-day suspension for the KURT presenter.
“Management has always respected our right to personal associations but consistently reminded us that such connections must not compromise our professional independence or create a perception of bias,” a source stated.
In May, Tuff B announced his intention to run for the Makindye East Member of Parliament seat in the next general elections, expected to be on the NUP ticket.
It’s noteworthy that Tuff B is not the first to face suspension from Next Media for violating impartiality policies, NBS TV’s Morning Breeze host Simon Kaggwa Njala was suspended weeks ago for hosting a politically charged thanksgiving event for opposition MP Mathias Mpuuga in Masaka on June 21, which was seen as an endorsement of the opposition.
Tuff B has yet to comment on his alleged suspension, and we shall keep posted
