There has been several investments by various entrepreneurs who have played a significant role in order to boast Uganda’s Economy. A number of companies have therefore been formed and grown from scratch. The following are some of the top richest companies in Uganda today.
1. MTN Uganda
With an estimated 11.2 million subscribers, MTN Uganda is the largest telecom company in the country, accounting for 55% of the market share as of June 30, 2017.
By December 31, 2019, its customer base grew to 12.6 million, and by 2021, the Uganda Communications Commission estimated the number at 15 million, with the company registering its 20 millionth customer.
Founded on October 21, 1998, with headquarters located at 69-71 Jinja Road in Kampala Central Division, MTN Uganda stands as one of the richest companies in Uganda.

2. Nile BreweriesÂ
Nile Breweries is a brewing Industry in Uganda, founded by Rambhai Somabhai Patel with it’s headquarters located in Jinga the Eastern region of Uganda.
The company specifically produces Beer and water with a product output of 2.4million hectoliters and hence the leading Beer manufacturer in Uganda.
3. Airtel Uganda
With it’s headquarters at Airtel Towers 16A Clement Hill Road in Kampala the capital city of Uganda, the telecommunications company was founded on 8th June 2010.
Airtel Uganda is a mobile communications and information technology services provider  in Uganda, a company that offers mobile funds, transfer and banking services and the company is a subsidiary of Airtel Africa PLC.
4. Uganda BreweriesÂ
Uganda Breweries Limited is Uganda’s leading premium adult Beverage Company that focuses on the development of great brands and great people.
The consumer driven company takes time to study the market and understand consumer needs, wants and as well as what satisfies them.
5. Stanbic Bank
A commercial Bank in Uganda which is licensed by the Bank of Uganda, the central bank and National banking regulator.
Stanbic bank was founded in 1906 and it’s headquarters are located in Kampala Central the capital city of Uganda.

6. Tororo Cement FactoryÂ
Tororo Cement Company Limited is one of the largest building materials manufacturing companies in Uganda and East Africa at large.
Located in Tororo Uganda, the company was founded in 1952 and it’s key founders are B.M Gagrani who is the Executive director of this  private company, with over 8000 employees, it specifically manufactures cement, Galvanized Iron, steel bars, nails among others.
7. Century Bottling Company
The company is the official authorized producer and distributor of Coca Cola products in Uganda such as coke, Dasani and Fanta.
It owns two plants, the first one in Namanve with a capacity of producing 24,000 bottles an hour and the second plant is in Mbarara.
8. Bujagali Energy Limited
A leading electric Energy generating company in Uganda which owns and operates the Bujagali power station the largest hydropower  plant in Uganda.
Founded in 2004, this private industry delivers affordable and clean energy in Uganda through the Bujagali
9. Kakira Sugar Factory
Often referred to as Kakira Sugar Works, it is a leading sugar manufacturer in Uganda, the third-largest economy in the East African Community.
Founded on January 1st, 1930, Kakira Sugar Works employs over 7,500 people and accounts for half of the national sugar production, making it one of the richest companies in Uganda.
10. UMEME
Umeme is the largest energy distributor in Uganda, distributing about 97 percent of electricity used around the Country.
The company’s total assets are approximately $619.18million with shareholders of equity approximately $247.27million.
However, there are more companies in the country that have also almost equally contributed to the growth and expansion of Uganda’s economy.
