Uganda the Pearl of Africa which is also a landlocked Country, boarded to the East by Kenya, to the North by South Sudan and to the West by the Democratic Republic of Congo. Uganda is made up of 135 Districts which are all named after their chief city.
However, not all cities are on the same level when it comes to development and Average Income. The following are some of the top Richest Districts in Uganda.
1. Wakiso District
A District in the Central region of Uganda which partly encircles Kampala, it’s town is the site of its District’s Headquarters.
With an estimated population of 2,915,200people, Wakiso district has the largest GDP per capital which ($3,250). The District boarders Nakasero District and Luwero District to the North, Mukono District to the East, Kalangala District in Lake Victoria to the South, Mpigi to the South West and Mityana District to the Northwest.
2. Kampala District
With an estimated population of about 2million people dwelling only in its Centre. Kampala City is not only the capital city of Uganda, but also the busiest city.
The city is such a developed city with all the infrastructures, facilities, support service providers with a consolidated transport system. However, it is also the second richest city with a GDP of $2,655.
Kampala District is neighboring Mukono district in the East, Buikwe district, Luwero district and Wakiso district in the South, North and the West.
3. Mukono District
The District is bordered by Kayanga District to the North, Buikwe district to the East, Kalangala district to the South West, Kira town Wakiso district to the West, and Luwero district to the North West.
However, Mukono district is ranked the third richest district according to its GDP which is $1,738. Mukono town also serves as the district headquarters and is home to the district’s main commercial centre.
4. Masaka District
A District in Buganda kingdom in Uganda with it’s town in Masaka city with an estimated population of 74,100people.
Masaka district is bordered by Masaka city to the North West, Kalungu district to the North kalngala district to the East and Kyotera district to the South West and South.
The district is therefore with a GDP of $1,360.
5. Jinja District
A district in Uganda’s Eastern region and its town as its main Municipal and commercial centre.
It is a city close to the source of River Nile
However its GDP is $1,180
6. Buikwe District
Buikwe district is bordered by Kayinga district to the North, Jinja district to the East, Buvuma district to the South East, the Republic of Tanzania to the South and Mukono District to the West.
With its district headquarters located approximately 60 kilometers by road, the district’s GDP is $1,180.
