The High Court in Kampala has postponed the case involving city socialite Charles Olimu, also known as Sipapa, and his wife Shamirah Nakiyimba to March 10, 2025, following the disappearance and loss of critical evidence.

On Wednesday, February 18, 2025, the prosecution presented forensic and medical evidence linking the couple to an alleged robbery that occurred on August 29, 2022, in which six South Sudanese nationals were reportedly targeted.

Crime scene investigator Makaayi testified that significant evidence had been recovered from the residence of one of the victims, Jacob Arok, following the attack at around 2:00 am.

However, during cross-examination, Makaayi revealed that all the crime scene photos and videos had been lost due to a virus, rendering them unavailable for the court’s consideration.

Defense lawyer Henry Kunya challenged this explanation, but Makaayi defended himself, stating that the loss was out of his control.

Detective Assistant Inspector Elizaph Mpumbi also testified about the search at Sipapa’s residence in Buwate-Kityo Close, where several stolen items were discovered, including:$70,000 in cash, four iPhones hidden inside an Adidas shoe, three laptops,Gold jewelry,a  suspected gold melter,Vehicle number plates and car accessories,CCTV monitors and multiple currencies, including Ugandan shillings, Sudanese dollars, and euros.

Mpumbi presented some of the recovered items in court but clarified that larger exhibits, such as the cash, were securely stored at Kabalagala Police Station. However, when questioned, he admitted that he could not confirm the ownership of the recovered phones.

In cross-examination, Ninsiima confirmed that blood sample analysis was conducted by police laboratories, not their own clinic.
