Veteran singer Ronald Mayinja has sparked fresh debate after boldly stating that presidential Candidate and musician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine lacks the maturity and leadership qualities needed to run Uganda.

Speaking in a recent interview, Ronald Mayinja once a strong Bobi Wine ally said that although anyone can contest for presidency, not everyone possesses the qualities required to lead a nation.

Ronald Mayinja stressed that Bobi Wine, running for president for the second time under the NUP ticket, is not yet ready to handle the responsibilities of a head of state.

According to him, Bobi Wine’s leadership style is driven by ego and pettiness, focusing on “small fights” rather than national progress.

He warned that if Bobi Wine ever became president, “he could take the country backwards by decades.”

Mayinja also accused Bobi Wine and NUP of using political blackmail to grow their support, citing their public fallout with Hon. Mathias Mpuuga as an example.

He further claimed that Bobi Wine’s camp discriminates against musicians who refuse to support him something he believes exposes weak leadership.

“Anyone can become president, but few can have presidential qualities. That’s where Bobi Wine falls short. He’s still immature. Look at the things he focuses on fighting fellow leaders like Mpuuga or attacking artists who don’t support him.” , Ronald Mayinja

Mayinja’s comments come after years of shifting political loyalties. He was once a government critic, later joined Bobi Wine’s NUP, then crossed over to the ruling NRM, where he now performs at several national events.
