Richard Muhumuza, the bodyguard of Pastor Aloysius Bugingo, was laid to rest today at the family’s ancestral home in Sembaule District.
Muhumuza met a tragic end on Tuesday night when unidentified gunmen ambushed Pastor Bugingo’s vehicle, registered as PRAIZ GOD, along Namungoona, Zone 2.
The assailants sprayed the vehicle with bullets, leaving Muhumuza dead and the pastor with minor injuries.
The funeral gathered numerous mourners, including religious leaders, security personnel, Pastor Bugingo, and his wife Suzan Makula. Police confirmed Muhumuza’s death upon arrival at Mulago Hospital.
Muhumuza, was a member of the Special Force Command (SFC), an elite force safeguarding the president and undertaking high-risk combat operations, was honored in his burial.
Pastor Bugingo, deeply affected by the loss, described Muhumuza as a hero who sacrificed his life for the pastor’s safety.
Bugingo expressed long-standing fears for his life, acknowledging Muhumuza’s honorable and selfless act in giving his life without hesitation.

My question is why was a pastor being guarded by a “Special Forces Command” soldier instead of the VVIP protection unit?pic.twitter.com/5L5BgN1Mu5
