The NRM flag bearer for Wakiso District Woman Member of Parliament Nakunda Beth Kayesu was facing Kirabira Rose Kobusinge in an election petition today where the former Masindi RDC and the petitioner Kirabira Rose was left out of words as she ‘satisfied’ the tribunal.

This tribunal was headed by Counsel Elton Mugabi and Counsel Elton Mushemeza was helping him and the two had to get to the bottom of this by hearing from both sides of Rose Kirabira and Nakunda Beth Kayesu, and know who is to have the flag.

It should be noted that, days ago, Kayesu Beth was declared the Wakiso Woman Member of Parliament NRM flag bearer with 46,792 (45.5%), followed by Namakula Radhiyyah Khamis with 31,090 (30.3%) and lastly Kirabira Rose Kobusinge with 24,867 (24.2%) votes. But this did not go well with the third place Kirabisa Rose and she moved on to petition.

The hearing of this petition which happened today at 16:00 hours and Nakunda Kayesu Beth who was represented by 4 lawyers that included Counsel Ahmend Kalule Mukasa, Counsel Mahir Kigula, Counsel Aron Buyinza and Counsel Kiryowa Andrew had one task of cross examining Kirabira Rose and asking her a few questions where she failed to satisfy court with her evidence.

It should be known that, Kirabira’s petition was that, she lost the vote because people who voted were ineligible to vote, that the electoral commission failed to send DR forms to all 720 polling points and instead served in only 420 stations. She added that, people had done double voting which manifested vote rigging and that some areas DR forms from some areas had not been included in the final tally.

In her request, she wanted the tribunal to declare the election null and void, declare her as the winner or do a voting again. Which was supposed to be decided by the tribunal today and a lot of loopholes were found in her defense.

The final verdict is expected in the following hours but the house was hot for the petitioner Kirabira Rose Kobusinge Nalongo as she got to a time and lost her tempers during the hearing. This has attracted a widespread roar from voters asking Nalongo rest and accept the defeat.
