President Yoweri Museveni has announced plans to establish a new industrial park for agro-processing in Bunyoro Sub-region, aimed at boosting jobs and value addition.

Speaking to supporters at Booma Grounds in Hoima City on Thursday last week, Museveni said the facility will be separate from the Kabalega Industrial Park, which focuses on petroleum products.

“Food industries cannot be mixed with petroleum industries. That’s why Bunyoro will have two separate industrial parks,” the President said.

Museveni, who was accompanied by First Daughter Natasha Museveni Karugire and senior NRM leaders, highlighted peace, development and wealth creation as key pillars of Uganda’s progress.

He pointed to major improvements in Hoima’s infrastructure, including roads, electricity and communication networks, noting that 12 out of 14 sub-counties are already connected to power.

The President also cited growth in education and health services, mentioning expanded government schools, upgrades at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital and plans to elevate Kigorobya HCIV to a general hospital.

Museveni urged residents to focus on household wealth creation through commercial agriculture and warned that future oil revenues must be invested in long-term projects like industrialisation.

NRM leaders, including Speaker Anita Among and Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, praised ongoing projects in the region, while Hoima District NRM Chairperson Vincent Muhumuza Savannah called for government help to address land eviction challenges and secure land titles for residents.
