Museveni Commits Billions to Support Musicians at Launch of “Yoweri”Music Album

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, also the National Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and its presidential flag bearer for the 2026 elections, has pledged financial and logistical support to Ugandan musicians to help grow the music industry.

The announcement was made during the official launch of the “Yoweri” music album, held at the Rwenzori Convention Centre, Speke Resort Munyonyo.

The colorful event took place yesterday evening and was attended by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni.

Organized by Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) President Eddy Kenzo, the event brought together artists, fans, government officials, and stakeholders from across the country.

The President, who served as the chief guest, committed between UGX 10 billion and 20 billion to support musicians’ zonal cooperatives.

He also emphasized the importance of the “Yoweri” album in promoting unity, preserving indigenous music, and shaping the cultural narrative as the country approaches the 2026 elections.

“I launched the ‘Yoweri’ song album by the Uganda National Musicians Federation, led by Eddy Kenzo, at Munyonyo. I want to thank him and all the musicians for finally getting organised,” The President stated.

The event featured live performances from various artists and was attended by notable figures including former Vice Presidents Gilbert Bukenya and Edward Ssekandi.

The “Yoweri” album is a collaborative project that brings together musicians from all regions of Uganda. It serves as a cultural milestone, celebrating patriotism, unity, and the transformative power of music.
