Mun G: “My Concert Was Packed, But I Left in Debt with No Profit”

Rapper Mun G has opened up about the financial reality behind his recent concert, The Champions Ball, which took place at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

Despite the event being a sold-out success with a massive turnout, the artist revealed that it left him deep in debt — with no profit to show for it.

According to the rapper, the show attracted 12,000 attendees, exceeding his original target of 10,000. He urged skeptics to verify the attendance figures, stating that the numbers are officially documented.

“Although the concert was a huge success in terms of turnout, I didn’t make any profit  in fact, I was left in debt, most of the money went into production costs and venue fees. Serena is very expensive, and unfortunately, I didn’t get many sponsors. These days, sponsors don’t give you actual money; they just buy tables.” Mun G said.

He emphasized that the event’s financial shortfall wasn’t due to poor planning but rather the high costs associated with hosting a show at a premium venue without adequate sponsorship support.

Still, Mun G took pride in his performance, boasting that he held the stage for three straight hours, delivering a string of back-to-back hits. He even challenged other Ugandan artists to match his endurance and catalog, saying only Dr. Jose Chameleone and the late Mowzey Radio could rival him in a true musical showdown.

Despite the financial setback, Mun G remains confident in his place among Uganda’s musical elite  both in performance and legacy.
