Fatuma Nanfuka, the widow of the late Kawempe North Member of Parliament Muhammad Ssegirinya, is critically ill and urgently requires medical attention as she battles a serious kidney-related condition.
Currently bedridden at her sister’s home in Kampala, Fatuma’s health has significantly deteriorated since mid-June. Her family is deeply concerned about her worsening condition.
Her sister, Miriam Kasirye, shared that despite repeated appeals for help, they have received no medical support from the government or Parliament since Ssegirinya’s passing.
“She fell sick so suddenly, and we still don’t understand how it happened. She’s been unable to get back on her feet,She has never been the same since his death. Her condition has worsened since June 13.”,Kasirye said.
Fatuma, who was legally married to the late MP, has also been involved in disputes with other women over property left behind by her husband tensions that arose shortly after his death.

Speaking in a weak voice, Nanfuka described the extent of her suffering.
“I feel a lot of pain in my lower abdomen,” she said, noting that the illness has left her unable to perform basic daily tasks.
The family is now appealing to the public, government authorities, and well-wishers for support to help Fatuma access the urgent medical care she needs.

Muhammad Ssegirinya, a prominent and outspoken MP under the National Unity Platform (NUP), passed away earlier this year after a prolonged illness. His death was a profound loss for his constituency and has left his family facing both emotional and health-related hardships.
