Musician Mikie Wine has responded to public criticism regarding his absence from his elder brother Bobi Wine’s political rallies, clarifying that his support remains firm despite not being physically present.
Bobi Wine, real name Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, is among the presidential candidates in the upcoming election under the National Unity Platform (NUP). As he campaigns across the country, many expected to see members of the Ssentamu family, especially Mikie, perform regularly at his rallies.

However, Mikie Wine has been notably absent a fact that has raised questions among supporters.
Speaking during a recent YouTube interview, “Zuena” singer explained that his absence is not out of disinterest but rather due to his own professional commitments, including preparations for his upcoming concert tour.
“I support my brother and his political journey, but I also have to focus on my music. If I don’t work, I won’t eat.Uganda doesn’t belong to my family alone it belongs to all of us. Supporting Bobi Wine shouldn’t be seen as a family duty; it’s a national cause for everyone who believes in his vision.”,Mikie said .

He emphasized that the struggle Bobi Wine leads should not be viewed as a “Ssentamu family business” but as a collective fight for change.
“If you tell me to attend every rally while you stay home, what happens when it’s time to reap? Will I take a bigger share because I’m his brother? No this isn’t about nepotism.Wemust all play our part. I can support him in my own way even by using my earnings to contribute to his campaign.”Mikie added.
Mikie Wine concluded by encouraging all Ugandans to support leaders they believe in, regardless of family ties, stressing that true change requires collective effort.
