Ugandan singer Ronald Magada, popularly known as Maro the Great, has spoken out for the first time about the car accident he was involved in while in Zambia at the end of April 2025.
Contrary to circulating rumors, the artist clarified that he was never in a coma and sustained only minor injuries.

Maro confirmed that the accident was serious and involved his daughter, who was trapped inside the vehicle for over 30 minutes.
He described the painful moment of watching helplessly as locals worked to rescue her, tears streaming down his face.
“On April 20th, I received the greatest gift my daughter’s life. She was with me during the accident, and I thank God for every heartbeat. We had followed safety protocols and placed her in a child seat, which ultimately saved her life. Though she was surrounded by shattered glass, she escaped serious injury.”,he shared.
While most passengers walked away with minor injuries, Maro noted that a friend’s wife was severely hurt and had to be airlifted to Lusaka for urgent medical treatment.
Addressing rumors that he had been hospitalized or in a coma, Maro explained that his silence on social media was due to personal struggles and the loss of his phone in the crash.
“To clarify, I wasn’t in a coma. I was taking care of my daughter, dealing with the police, and struggling mentally. I couldn’t focus on the phone I had lost,” he explained.
The singer called the experience a testament to God’s protection and expressed deep gratitude to fans for their prayers and concern.
“I want to thank everyone who prayed for us, even without knowing the full story. In this age of social media, disappearing from the spotlight can feel like death. But I’m still here and something was definitely wrong,” he said.
