The Buganda Prime Minister , Charles Peter Mayiga has revealed that Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi is receiving specialized treatment outside the country.
He made this revelation while addressing the Pres last night at Bulanga Mengo prior the Kabaka’s birthday run 2024 Ceremony.
According to Katikkiro Mayiga, said that Kabaka left the country on March 20 to Europe for an interface with his medical handlers and has not been able to return in time for the birthday run aimed at raising funds and awareness in the campaign against the spread of HIV/ AIDs.
That he had designated Nnaalinya Lubuga to flag off Kabaka’s subjects in his absence.
He went on to disclose that Kabaka is expected to return home as soon as his medical handlers are through with their exercises.
“On 21st March, Ssabasajja Kabaka travelled to Europe to see his doctors,the doctors needed to run some more tests and assess his ongoing treatment; and so, he was unable to be back in time yet the marathon date was already set. He will be back once the doctors have finished their work”, Mayiga said.
He further said that he had spoken with the Kabaka who expressed gratitude to the people and organisations which took part in the birthday run.
The marathon was supported financially by President Yoweri Museveni, House Speaker Anita Among, Leader of Opposition Joel Senyonyi, and other government agencies, corporate entities and organizations.
The Buganda monarch will be turning 69 on April 13th this year.
