Singer Jowy Landa has downplayed concerns over the low turnout of artists at the burial of her late brother, Martin Kawuki, who passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, and was laid to rest the following day in Luwero.

Despite public expectations of a strong presence from the entertainment industry, only a few artists attended the funeral a fact that sparked discussions online about unity within the music community.

Speaking to Dayas Walugembe of The Truth Media, Jowy clarified that she never expected a large turnout of artists, noting that the occasion wasn’t meant to be a public spectacle.

“It was a funeral, not a concert. I didn’t expect artists to come and sing for me.Whoever made it, did so. I don’t consider it a big deal. I know how tight their schedules can be.”she said.

Jowy added that while many did not attend in person, several artists reached out with condolences and financial support.

“Some of those who couldn’t come still showed support in other ways, for instance, A Pass called and we talked for a long time. He sent his condolences and also supported me financially.”she said.

The Team No Sleep (TNS) singer expressed gratitude to those who stood by her family, emphasizing that support can take many forms.

“Those who came and stood with our family during the burial are our real people. But you can’t force anyone. I also received so many calls and messages from fellow artists—it’s okay,” she concluded.
