Away from the tantalizing reports about his love life which dominated the news past weeks, Uganda’s young R&B talent Joshua Baraka had some other thrilling news to share.
After almost three years of recording music and Performing around , the “Nana” hit maker is set to step on stage in long awaited Concert.
He has announced his first Concert slated for The Villa – Bukoto, May 9th May this year.
Joshua did not have much to say about the concert in the announcement a part from a fitting caption “We have the Date, Let’s start this journey and create many musical memories together🎶✨” he shared on his X Account.
Who is Joshua Baraka?
Joshua Baraka is a multifaceted artist known for his work as a songwriter, producer, instrumentalist, and musician. His upbringing took place in Kazo, within the Kawempe division of Kampala. Choosing to perform in English, Baraka distinguished himself in a musical landscape he felt was saturated with Luganda-speaking artists.
His academic journey included studying a combination of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) at A-Level in Mengo Senior Secondary School, where he also discovered a passion for music production. Despite this growing interest, his academic performance suffered as he increasingly took on piano gigs, leading to a decline in his school attendance and grades.
Baraka’s educational path also included attending Makerere College School for O-Level and Kitante Primary School in his earlier years. Post-A-Level, he explored careers in nursing and architecture but found neither to be a good fit. Initially hesitant to perform on stage, he was persuaded by a friend in 2020 to accept a gig performing at a wedding. This event, where he earned Shs800,000 for three songs, convinced him to forgo traditional education in favor of pursuing music full-time.
