Ailing Ugandan singer Joseph Mayanja, popularly known as Jose Chameleone has issued a stern warning to those spreading unfounded rumors about him, stating that such actions could lead to serious consequences.
This comes after Chameleone came across a video shared by content creator and radio personality Janie Namukasa on her social media on Tuesday morning, February 18,2025.
In the video Namukasa falsely claimed that the “Valu Valu” hitmaker had been arrested for assaulting Juliet Zawedde, the Ugandan businesswoman who is currently hosting him in the U.S.

However, it was later clarified that Chameleone had actually been hospitalized for preparations for pancreatic surgery following an earlier health issue.
The singer explained that the video containing the false allegations had been sent to him by events promoter Abitex, which left him deeply concerned.

He further urged that individuals like Namukasa should stop spreading misleading information, warning of the potential repercussions such actions could have.
In a video message from his hospital bed, Chameleone assured his fans that he was awaiting surgery and would provide updates once the procedure was done. He also expressed gratitude to those who were praying for his recovery.

Chameleone’s journey to the U.S. was made possible by Juliet Zawedde, who covered the expenses for his treatment and travel. He is currently receiving specialized care at Allina Health Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.
His brother and fellow musician, Weasel Manizo, has been by his side, offering support during this difficult time. Despite being miles away, Chameleone has stayed connected with his fans and the Ugandan music industry.
In a January 3, 2025, audio interview with NTV’s “The Beat” show, Chameleone expressed gratitude for the support he has received and shared his determination to overcome his health challenges. He also emphasized his commitment to returning to the music scene with fresh energy, revealing that his time in recovery has been spent reflecting on his career and planning future projects.
As Chameleone approaches his surgery, fans and well-wishers around the world continue to offer their prayers and support, hoping for a successful procedure and a quick recovery for the iconic artist.
