Ugandan music icon Joseph Mayanja, better known as Jose Chameleone, has filed a defamation lawsuit against journalist and content creator Janie Namukasa.
Through his legal team, Muwema & Co. Advocates and Solicitors, Chameleone served Namukasa with a notice of legal action following defamatory claims she made about him.
The controversy began when Namukasa posted a TikTok video alleging that Chameleone had been incarcerated in the United States after physically assaulting his caretaker, Juliet Zawedde.

Namukasa claimed that the altercation occurred after Zawedde caught Chameleone speaking on the phone with other women.
Despite widespread backlash, Namukasa stood by her accusations, stating that she was confident in her statement and challenging Chameleone to disprove her claims by appearing live on TikTok.

In response, Chameleone quickly took to his social media platforms to deny the allegations, accusing Namukasa of spreading false information and misleading the public. Later he announced his intention to pursue legal action against her.
The “Valu Valu” singer is now demanding both a public apology and financial compensation from Namukasa.

Chameleone has insisted that the apology be issued on the same TikTok platform where the allegations were made. If Namukasa fails to comply within five days, he warned, further legal proceedings will follow.
