Renowned Ugandan singer Deus Ndugwa alias Grenade Official, recently opened up about the hardships he faced under his former manager, Jeff Kiwa.
According to Grenade, Kiwa’s treatment led him to severe depression, and he even began using drugs to cope with the distress after leaving Kiwa’s Team No Sleep (TNS) music label. The singer describes Kiwa as the “worst curse” he has ever encountered.
The “Babadana,” hit maker emphasized the importance of discussing the negative influences in the music industry, claiming that Kiwa is among them.
He believes Kiwa’s actions should be addressed, saying his former manager’s “bad heart” players in the music industry
One of Grenade’s main grievances is that, after his departure from TNS, Kiwa gave away a song he had recorded with Kin Bella to another artist, who, in Grenade’s view, did not do justice to the track. He expressed hope that one day, God will repay Jeff Kiwa for his bad deeds.
Grenade Official vented out his dismay while speaking in an interview on Galaxy FM on Friday.
“I speak freely about Jeff Kiwa because he made me depressed. I even started using drugs because of what he did to me. He’s the worst curse that has ever happened to me.”, he said
He added, “We need to talk about the bad people in the music industry. Jeff Kiwa has a bad heart and needs to be stopped. When I left TNS, he gave my song with Kin Bella to another artist, and they performed it poorly. But God will handle him.”
Grenade Official left TNS in 2019 after a period of significant career growth. Some sources suggested that issues related to Grenade’s alleged indiscipline and drug use contributed to the split with Kiwa.
